Mission-Driven Creative Work
A collection of communications and visual design work produced for churches and ministry organizations.
Some of the most meaningful work I have done has been for churches, ministries, and mission-driven organizations. Not because it was the most technically complex, but because it required something more than craft. It required understanding what a community is trying to say, who they are trying to reach, and why it matters.
This page collects that work. Brand identity systems, sermon series graphics, event materials, social media campaigns, and outreach visuals created for organizations doing real things in real communities. Each project started with a relationship and ended with something that could be held, shared, and used.
FREEDOM CHRISTIAN ASSEMBLIES OF GOD
Sterling Heights, MI
For two years, I served as the sole creative for a 250-member congregation across two campuses. Every piece of visual content the church produced passed through me, including sermon presentations, event signage, social media graphics, print collateral, and seasonal campaign materials. The work had to be consistent, on-brand, and ready on a schedule that never stopped.
OUTWARD YOUTH
Brand Identity and Ministry Rebrand
Starting from a blank page, I developed the complete visual identity for Outward Youth, the student ministry of Freedom Christian. The project covered naming, logo design, color system, and typography, and the finished identity was deployed across digital content, print materials, merchandise, and event production. It became the visual foundation the ministry still builds from.
Sermon Series Graphics
HEY CHURCH CO.
Portland, OR / Remote
Hey Church Co. works with small churches across the country to help them communicate with clarity and consistency. I contracted with their team to design branded print and digital materials for their client churches, including sermon graphics, brochures, and social media campaigns. The work was fast-paced, brand-guided, and built to serve ministry teams who needed professional creative without the overhead of a full design department.
SLAM: YOUTH RETREAT
Event Branding and Campaign Design
SLAM was a youth retreat that needed a visual identity that could travel across multiple formats, from stage slides to social media to print materials. I designed the full campaign package, building a consistent look and feel that worked at every size and in every context the event required.
APEX YOUTH CONFERENCE
Social Media Campaign
A social media campaign for a regional youth conference, designed to build anticipation and drive attendance across Instagram and other platforms. The series covered speaker announcements, countdown graphics, worship nights, and event details, maintaining a consistent visual thread from the first post to the last.
CHEHALEM VALLEY CHURCH
Newberg, OR / Remote
Chehalem Valley needed a visual identity for an internal ministry and a set of materials their congregation could live with for years. I delivered a ministry logo, brand-aligned social graphics and signage, and four decorative values posters designed for their gathering space. The goal was work that felt warm, intentional, and rooted in who they are as a community.
This work is part of a larger creative practice. To see the full range, including brand identity, illustration, apparel graphics, and print production, visit the main portfolio at heyjosiah.net.
